Green mountains reflecting on the water, colorful villages overlooking the shores, unexpected peaceful spots and beautiful nature everywhere you look: these are just some of the reasons that make Lake Lugano such a popular destination for residents and tourists from all over the world.

Particularly in fine weather, it is a spectacle to see pedal boats, canoes, paddle boats, motorboats and boats of various sizes painting the surface of the lake.

Some individuals use their own boats, which can be moored in one of the many berths available in the various municipal ports, while others take advantage of the offerings of the Società Navigazione del Lago di Lugano (Lake Lugano Navigation Company). In fact, from April to October there are many boat excursions to choose from that touch on characteristic villages such as Gandria and Porlezza on the one hand and Morcote, Capolago, Porto Ceresio and Ponte Tresa on the other. The cruises can then be combined with interesting visits, for example to the Customs Museum or the Swissminiatur in Melide, as well as walks on mountains such as San Salvatore, Generoso or San Giorgio, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The service remains active even in winter, with limitations.

The fleet, consisting of 13 boats from 2 to 600 seats, carries 300,000 passengers a year and also allows the organization of various private events thanks to a customized catering service.
