Mobility

The issue of mobility is central to the development of the city as well as the region. Roads are not only the primary element of mobility, but they are also a fundamental part of urban space, significantly impacting territorial development and bearing the responsibility of protecting and enhancing it.

The City of Lugano aims to progressively increase the share of public transport and slow mobility (pedestrian and cycling) and to encourage the transition to electric vehicles.

The mobility framework for Lugano and the region is outlined in the Programma d'agglomerato del Luganese di terza generazione (PAL 3, Third Generation Agglomeration Program) and the Piano dei trasporti del Luganese (PTL, Lugano Transport Plan), detailed in the Piano della viabilità del Polo luganese (PVP, Lugano Hub Traffic Plan).

Lugano thus becomes a key player in a mobility project aimed at promoting a sustainable approach in urban transportation choices.
