Pedestrian zone

Particularly in the summertime, the center of Lugano comes alive thanks to citizens and tourists who take advantage of the good weather by walking around and enjoying the various events organized by the City. These include markets and flea markets that also on weekends and during the holidays contribute to populate Lugano's streets, keeping in mind that public spaces belong to everyone and therefore some simple rules of coexistence should be respected, illustrated for example by the Courtesy Campaign promoted by the City.

Lugano's pedestrian zone extends between Via Nassa, the Cathedral, Piazza della Riforma, Piazza Dante, the Quartiere Maghetti and its surroundings. It is reserved for pedestrians and those using roller skates, inline skates, scooters or bicycles for preschool children. Circulation in the pedestrian zone is, on the other hand, prohibited for all vehicles, except in regulated cases or those with regular permits.
