Letter of application

The motivation or cover letter is essential and accompanies and introduces the resume / curriculum vitae.

It should stimulate the interest of job seekers and make sure that you are contacted for an interview. Some important elements need to emerge:

• why you believe you are the right person to fill the role described in the job ad
• what one's motivations are with respect to that type of profession
• what you think you can offer the institution/company

Without repeating the content of the resume, you can use this opportunity to highlight other skills:

• strengths with respect to the position for which you are applying
• personal characteristics: ability to adapt to different work environments, ability to connect with others, positive elements of one's character, and so on
• personal expectations for growth

If you are responding to an advertisement, it is useful to highlight, with concrete examples, the qualities that match the required characteristics.

There are no standard formats of motivational letters; instead, it is advisable to customize the texts from time to time with respect to the institutions/companies for which you are applying and their advertisements.
