Swiss National Sound Archives
The Swiss National Sound Archives is the sound archive of Switzerland; it is also responsible for the preservation of the national sound heritage.
As a section of the Swiss National Library, the Sound Archives collects, catalogs and makes available to the public all sound documents that have a connection to Swiss history and culture, in terms of music and speech, such as recordings of classical, rock, jazz and popular music, narrated books, short stories, theater pièces, interviews, research documents (recordings made in the field) and private collections.
To facilitate access to its documents, the Sound Archives has established a secure network of audiovisual stations at other institutions - conservatories, libraries, archives, universities - where all digitized documents can be heard.
As part of its activities to enhance the value of sound documents, the Sound Archives also pays special attention to the educational dimension with resources and services dedicated to children and schools.
