Home care

The City of Lugano provides care for the elderly in collaboration with SCuDo, the public interest home care and assistance service in the Lugano area.

ScuDo is in charge of bringing basic care and help services directly to the citizen's home, so as to allow those experiencing difficult situations due to illness, accidents, disability, old age and socio-familial problems (but also in case of maternity) to remain in their own homes.

Intervention at home aims to strengthen the social and health network around the person who turns to ScuDo; in addition, the promotion of autonomy is the common intent of all services that promote the maintenance of people at home.

Preventive or rehabilitative services, whether temporary or long-term, are provided in the home of the person who needs help. In particular, medical and therapeutic care, basic care, home help, hygiene, health and social counselling, information and activation of resources available in the region, health education and prevention are considered home care services.
