Punto digitale
An experimental project offering free one-on-one assistance to those unfamiliar with computers, cell phones, tablets and the Internet.
More and more everyday services are digital and available online: buying a train or event ticket, paying bills, booking an appointment, and so on. Those who are not very familiar with computers, mobile phones, tablets, or navigating the internet can sometimes rely on family and acquaintances for help.
To understand how to proceed, you can turn to the Punto digitale, established in November 2022 to offer free individual assistance to those who may have difficulties in their daily use of digital tools. It is therefore possible to make an appointment by calling +41 58 866 74 10 or by writing an email to [email protected]. At the Punto digitale, you can bring your own phone, computer, or tablet; alternatively, the available computers can be used.
The uniqueness of the project lies in the involvement of students enrolled in the Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences at the Università della Svizzera italiana. As digital assistants, they volunteer and help solve situations that may arise daily. In turn, they earn academic credits and put into practice communication skills that they also deepen in their study path.
Opening days and hours
- Wed 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
- Sat 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The Punto digitale complements the Spazio lavoro e formazione (opened in 2020, offering courses and support in job searching through digital tools) and eQuiD (a service that provides used computers free of charge to those in need).
Punto digitale is an experimental project born from the collaboration between the Divisione socialità and Lugano Living Lab with the Università della Svizzera italiana. It realizes the City's digitization objectives, the commitment to developing basic digital skills among the population, and attention to involving the university realities of the region, as indicated in the 2018-2028 strategic guidelines of the City Council. The project is also funded with cantonal and federal contributions for promoting adults' basic skills.
