Cantonal grants
Applications for obtaining a scholarship are managed by the Ufficio delle borse di studio e dei sussidi del Cantone Ticino (Office for Scholarships and Grants of the Canton of Ticino).
Study aid can be granted:
- for the completion of an apprenticeship, or for professional retraining
- for attending secondary or vocational schools in the Canton and higher education institutions
- for studies at universities and polytechnics or professional universities, for postgraduate studies and for the preparation of a doctorate (for master's degrees, one-third of the scholarship is converted into a loan)
- for advanced courses and language stays
A special social aid can also be granted for attending a private kindergarten, elementary or middle school equivalent in the Canton, if a social necessity is demonstrated.
Submission of the application
The application can be submitted:
- by downloading the forms provided on www.ti.ch/aiutistudio
- by sending the required documentation within the month of the start of the training
- by attaching the latest tax assessment (calculation of the cantonal taxable amount) of the applicant, both parents, and any spouse, registered partner, or cohabiting partner
