Municipal Saver Day Pass
As of 2024, Municipal Saver Day Passes are available. Citizens can apply for the Passes from 6 months in advance until the day before the travel date.
The Passes have different prices and can be purchased at Puntocittà in Lugano Centro, Pregassona and Pambio-Noranco.
Municipal Saver Day Passes sold in Lugano are reserved exclusively for persons domiciled in Lugano (Swiss, foreigners with B or C permits).
How to purchase the Municipal Saver Day Pass
Since all Swiss municipalities access the same quota, in order to give the same purchasing opportunities to those who do not use digital in Lugano, it will not be possible to reserve over the phone or by mail and purchase Passes online. Users will have to present themselves, with an ID, at one of the three Puntocittà counters, namely:
- Puntocittà Lugano Centro, Via della Posta 8, Lugano
- Puntocittà Pregassona, 13 Via Sala, Pregassona
- Puntocittà Pambio-Noranco, Via Pian Scairolo 18a, Pambio Noranco (temporarily closed)
The availability of Municipal Saver Day Passes can be checked on the dedicated SBB portal for the next 6 months. The web page does not allow direct purchase or reservation.
Cost of the Daily Pass
The common Municipal Saver Day Pass will no longer have a fixed price (today in Lugano CHF 40.-). The SBB has set the basic cost at CHF 39 with a half-price pass and CHF 52 without a half-price pass, for a maximum of CHF 148 per card. The rate varies, in fact, depending on the date of purchase (the earlier you buy, the lower the cost) and the availability of the offer since the quota is limited. In fact, all Municipalities will draw from the same national quota (managed by the SBB): once it is exhausted, it will no longer be possible to purchase the Pass.
The Pass is personal
The Municipal Saver Day Pass will be available only in the form personalized with the traveler's first name, last name and date of birth. Therefore, it is not transferable.
Refund
You can return the purchased card and obtain a refund as follows:
- within 7 days of purchase, by applying exclusively to the Puntocittà where the purchase was made. You must return both the ticket and the receipt and fill out a form at the counter. The refund will be made to a bank account in the following days.
- more than 7 days after the purchase, by applying only to the Puntocittà where the purchase was made. Both the ticket and the receipt must be returned. The Puntocittà will forward the request on behalf of the purchaser to the Brig SBB Contact Center, which grants refunds only in exceptional cases and retains a deductible of CHF 10. More information can be found in the general conditions of sale.
Other categories of discounted tickets
After the availability of Municipal Saver Day Passes has ended, the user can check the online purchase of other types of discounted tickets, with different conditions, on the SBB website.
