Traffic Garden
Signs, intersections, stop signs, right of way, one-way streets, traffic islands, pedestrian crossings, roundabouts, and traffic lights: everything encountered on the road can be found, in miniature, in the Traffic Garden, set up in collaboration with the TCS-Touring Club Swiss, Luganese Group, at the Gerra schools. This special educational route is designed for children, providing hands-on road safety instruction with bicycles and pedal cars. It's a way for them to practice the rules they've learned in theory.
Each year, nearly 4,000 kindergarten and primary school students from Lugano receive instruction.
Bicycle Skills Test
Next to the Traffic Garden is a course for testing skills on a bicycle. The aim is to assess young cyclists' abilities before they encounter road traffic: balance and the ability to overcome various obstacles are fundamental for riding safely.
