Received a Turkish delegation from Bilfen High School

A delegation of over 100 people, including students and teachers from Bilfen High School – one of Turkey’s leading private educational institutions – arrived in Lugano today to learn about the initiatives promoted by the City in the fields of innovation and digital transformation.

The delegation, made up of representatives from educational institutions in several Turkish cities, including Istanbul, was welcomed at Palazzo Civico by Jan Trautmann, head of the City’s Communication and Digital Innovation Service, Simona Gamba from the Lugano Living Lab, and Alex Chung from the Economic Development Division. Bilfen High School, active for decades in the field of education, stands out for its focus on scientific and technological disciplines.

The Lugano Living Lab has fostered the creation of an ecosystem centered on new technologies, involving multiple stakeholders—such as citizens, universities, businesses, and research institutes. Innovative projects launched in the social, economic, and environmental spheres are attracting the interest of numerous national and international educational and academic institutions.

During the meeting, several key projects reflecting the City of Lugano’s commitment to digital innovation were presented. Among these was MyLugano, the City platform that supports local commerce through the digital currency LVGA, a blockchain-based payment token. The students had the opportunity to test its use firsthand around the city, exploring and experiencing a concrete model of urban digital economy.

The visit concluded with an informal moment of dialogue and mutual exchange.
