Easter in the City

From 18 to 21 April 2025, Easter in the City will be celebrated in Lugano with the traditional market, folkloric groups, alphorns, and a concert by the Filarmonica di Castagnola. For children, in addition to the eagerly awaited Treasure Hunt and the Duck Fishing game, the extraordinary Knowledge Labyrinth will also be available, created in collaboration with the Università della Svizzera Italiana. A weekend not to be missed, which officially kicks off the open-air event season to be explored through the Lugano Eventi calendar and its services.

Spring is in the air in Lugano, and preparations are underway to celebrate Easter in the City from 18 to 21 April. This lively event features a traditional market, musical performances, and activities for children, in a weekend that marks the start of the busy outdoor event calendar characteristic of the warmer season.

Every day from 10:00 to 19:00, visitors can explore the stalls in the city centre offering typical local products, crafts, and sweets, accompanied by the music of the folkloric groups Duo Nostranello, Duo Lorenza e Francesco and Tacalà, which will enliven the streets. From 10:00 to 17:00, children can have fun at Parco Ciani and along the lakeside, following the stages of the Treasure Hunt—one of the most eagerly awaited moments for the little ones—with instructions also available in French, German, and English. At the end of the route, participants will receive a delicious gift offered by Lindt & Sprüngli and a surprise from USI. During the same time slot, children can also enjoy a fun Duck Fishing game in the fountain of Piazza Manzoni.

The new feature this year, created in collaboration with the Università della Svizzera Italiana, will be the opportunity to immerse oneself in the Knowledge Labyrinth (always open and with free admission). Along the way, children can keep their minds active and test their knowledge—an opportunity to explore and discover curiosities through play.

There are also some musical events planned: on Saturday, 19 April at 17:00, the Filarmonica di Castagnola will perform in the City Hall courtyard. The Amici Corno delle Alpi will then perform with the traditional Swiss instrument on Monday, 21 April from 10:00 to 15:00, at Parco Ciani and in the city centre streets.
