The winter covering of the pools and the heating-ventilation system enable the use of the facilities during a critical period of the year, characterized by high attendance from the public and athletes and limited capacity of the municipal indoor pool. The replacement was necessitated by wear and the need to comply with air hygiene and energy-saving regulations.

The PVC cover, a high-resistance material treated for mold and lacquered to reduce dirt accumulation, also offers key features for a 30% energy saving (reduced gas consumption of approximately 45,000 m³, resulting in annual cost savings of around CHF 36,000). The structure covers an area of 2574 m², consists of three membranes, and is divided into six elements (instead of three). It is more easily maneuverable thanks to a quick and perfectly sealed connection system (plates and counter-plates screwed together). Installation and dismantling operations are facilitated by spreading a waterproof sheet over the water surfaces of the pools, allowing the cover sheets to slide without getting wet.

The ventilation and air heating systems (including an emergency generator) comply with air protection standards and current energy-saving regulations.
