The winter covering of the pools and the heating-ventilation system enable the use of the facilities during a critical period of the year, characterized by high attendance from the public and athletes and limited capacity of the municipal indoor pool. The replacement was necessitated by wear and the need to comply with air hygiene and energy-saving regulations.
The PVC cover, a high-resistance material treated for mold and lacquered to reduce dirt accumulation, also offers key features for a 30% energy saving (reduced gas consumption of approximately 45,000 m³, resulting in annual cost savings of around CHF 36,000). The structure covers an area of 2574 m², consists of three membranes, and is divided into six elements (instead of three).
