Via Luigi Taddei - Suitable for children with disabilities
In this park, swings, a slide, a sandbox, a water play area, space to run, and picnic tables are designed for everyone, including able-bodied and differently-abled children.
Features
Small architectural adjustments make the park accessible to all children, offering them the opportunity to grow and develop their potential through sharing and fun. For example, the slide is wider than those in traditional parks and features a ramp (instead of stairs) to make it easier to use. The picnic tables are designed to allow wheelchair users to approach and sit comfortably. The flat, obstacle-free terrain facilitates movement for people in wheelchairs, with strollers, or using walking aids.
Recognition
The special care taken by the City of Lugano’s Dicastero Servizi Urbani (Department of Urban Services) in designing and building the park earned it the prestigious Playground for All award from the Denk an mich Foundation.
Realization
The project was made possible thanks to financial support from the Denk an mich Foundation, which provides grants for inclusive playground projects, and from the Harley for Children Ticino Association.
