Children's Library
The Besso Children's Library, founded in 1980, is located within the primary school complex of the district and is managed by volunteers.
It houses over 16,000 fiction and non-fiction books for children and young people up to the age of 14. It also offers a small selection of audiobooks and DVDs. The online catalog can be accessed on the library's website.

The library offers books in Italian, German, French, English, Albanian, Croatian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, etc.
Opening days and hours
The opening days are based on the school calendar:
- Mon 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Tue and Wed 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Thu 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Sat 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (once a month)
Special openings in July: Wed 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Loan
The loan service is available to everyone interested: children, teenagers, teachers, parents, as well as non-residents of Lugano.

The library offers:

- presentations of new book releases
Bookstart
The library has joined "Bookstart", a national project aimed at promoting reading for children from their earliest years and their families. Reading aloud to one's children stimulates comprehension and thinking skills, offering significant benefits for a child's development.
