Informatica
The Division manages the information and communication systems of the Administration.
Director: Enrico Gulfi
The Divisione Informatica (IT Division) provides the City Council and the City's Administration with high-quality, innovative, and cost-effective ICT (Information and Communication Technology) solutions and services to efficiently and rationally carry out their tasks.
Tasks and activities
The ICT infrastructure of the Division includes approximately 1,000 workstations connected through a 600 km fiber optic network (300 network devices, 200 wireless antennas) to a server farm hosting 150 production virtual servers and 30 test/development servers.
The main IT applications are SAP for financial and personnel management, ESRI for GIS applications, OpenText for document management, and Lotus Notes for collaboration. These are complemented by dozens of sector-specific application solutions, some of which are developed internally.
The Divisione Informatica acts as the "custodian" of all managed systems, ensuring their security and distinguishing its role from that of the "owner" of the stored data, namely the various City Administration services responsible for the content of the information.
Since 2016, the Divisione Informatica has also managed the fixed (with 2,400 lines) and mobile (800 devices) telephony system for the entire Administration.
