The ABT was founded in 1920 as a private association of banks, whose aim was to “safeguard the Ticinese financial marketplace, defending its image and the interests and rights of its members at the Cantonal level, exception made for any trading activity.” It also organises vocational training and updating courses for professionals belonging to the banking and financial sectors. The majority of Ticinese banks are members.
