Dangerous species

Dangerous species (invasive alien organisms) are exotic plants or animals introduced in Europe after the discovery of America in 1492 that have the ability to reproduce in nature and spread rapidly. They can reach such a spread that they jeopardize biodiversity; they are also capable of endangering human, animal, and environmental health.

Among the species to pay particular attention to are the tiger mosquito, the brown marmorated stink bug, the Asian longhorned beetle, the pine and oak processionary caterpillar, the Japanese beetle, ambrosia, Asian knotweed, grapevine golden flavescence, and giant hogweed.
