The new preschool, inaugurated in October 2024, consists of 4 sections and a dining space for primary school students. The decision to include a canteen aims to facilitate the balance between family and work commitments.
The Executive ratified the decision of the architecture competition jury last April, awarding the first prize to the project named "Conseguente," by the architectural studio Boltas Bianchi Architetti from Agno and the civil engineering firm Roger Bacciarini & Co from Maroggia. The competition saw the participation of 26 interdisciplinary groups comprising professionals from the fields of architecture and civil engineering, from Switzerland and Italy.
The winning project enhances the entire area, which spans a surface of 12,540 m².
The new building was constructed following MINERGIE® A standards. After the City Parliament approved a construction credit of approximately CHF 9.9 million in December 2020 and the building permit was obtained in the same period, the executive planning phase began in 2021. Construction activities started at the end of July 2021. The building was delivered in time for the start of the 2024/25 school year.
