Prevedere 2.0

To prevent burglaries, the police forces of Region 3 of the Luganese, as part of community policing operations, have launched the prevention campaign "Prevedere 2.0", announced for the beginning of June 2019. With greater attention to the phenomenon, its frequency can be reduced through self-protection by tenants and apartment owners.

Constant cooperation between citizens and the police

Citizens, through their behavior, can effectively contribute to reducing the phenomenon of burglaries; in fact, the active collaboration of the population enhances the effectiveness of police action. Evidence shows that the police very often arrest the perpetrators of crimes thanks to timely reports from citizens. Therefore, the recommendation is to always and immediately call the police to report suspicious people or a burglary in progress. The most effective prevention against burglaries is also carried out by the tenant who protects their home during their absence.

Meetings and on-site inspections

The "Prevedere 2.0" campaign was promoted through the media, municipal websites and meetings with the population managed by municipal police officers in various districts of Lugano and in the municipalities of the Luganese region, as well as a main meeting point in Piazza Dante in Lugano.

At the meeting points, citizens were able to interact with the officers, making specific requests; by appointment, the officers made themselves available for an on-site inspection and further advice.
